Nadab

Who were Nadab & Abihu in the Bible?

Some brother like Cain and Able would get each other in trouble. Nadbab and Abihu got in trouble together.

Although little is known about them in the early years, the Bible gives a lot of information about the environment they grew up in. Born in Egypt Nadab and Abihu were eyewitnesses to God’s mighty acts of the Exodus. They saw their father Aaron, their uncle Moses and their aunt Miriam in action many times. They had firsthand knowledge of God’s Holiness and for a while they followed God wholeheartedly (Leviticus 8:36). But when the crucial moment came they chose to treat Gods instructions with indifference. The consequence of their sin was fiery, instant and shocking to all.

We must be careful that we don’t make the same mistake when we take lightly the justice and Holiness of God. We must draw near to God and still realize that there should be a proper fear of God. The opportunity to know God personally is based on His gracious invitation and not to be taken for granted. We are all unworthy. It’s only through His love for us that we can approach Him.

You really have to know that God is the creator of everything including us. With just a slight lifting of His finger nations can be destroyed. God is powerful! Yet God, wants to have a personal one on one relationship with us. Glory be to God!

Do you take God for granted? Do you know God? Do you know Jesus?

Are you certain that you are going to heaven? If the answer is no or your not really sure and there is something stirring inside you at this very moment to do this, then all you have to do is say a small prayer and you can be assured of your name being added to the Book of Life. Go to the prayer of salvation and pray the words out loud and believe in your heart and you will be saved.

Nadab and Abihu’s story is told in Leviticus 8 – 10. They are also mentioned in Exodus 24:1, 9; 28:1 and Numbers 3:2 – 4; 26:60, 61
