Deborah

Who was Deborah in the Bible?

Wise leaders are very rare. They accomplish great amounts of work without direct involvement since they know how to work through other people. Deborah fits this description perfectly. Deborah was able to see the big picture that often escapes those directly involved. She made a great mediator, adviser and planner. She not only had all these leadership skills, she also had a remarkable relationship with God. The insight and confidence God gave Deborah placed her in a unique position in the Old Testament. Deborah was among the outstanding woman of history.

Deborah’s story shows that she was not power hungry. She wanted to serve God and whenever praise came her way, she gave God the credit. Deborha’s story shows how God can accomplish great things through people who are willing to be led by Him.

Deborah’s life challenges us in several ways. She reminds us that we need to be available both to God and to others. She encourages us to spend our efforts on what we can do rather than worry about what we can’t do. Deborah challenges us to be wise leaders. She is a perfect example of what a person can accomplish when God is in control.

Do you allow God to be in control of your life? Do you know God? Do you know Jesus?

Are you certain that you are going to heaven? If the answer is no or your not really sure and there is something stirring inside you at this very moment to do this, then all you have to do is say a small prayer and you can be assured of your name being added to the Book of Life. Go to the prayer of salvation and pray the words out loud and believe in your heart and you will be saved.

Deborah’s story is told in Judges 4, 5.
